Teens at Rahway High School audited their school’s water consumption, with a little help from Rutgers, and figured out a way to save 1.6 million gallons of water a year. Now, thanks to the work of the Rahway Water Champions, a three-year-old club at Rahway High School, and a donation from American Standard, the school will save not only water but also money--an estimated $6,500 or more a year.

The new Colony Soft kitchen faucet from American Standard is a real multi-tasker. The ergonomic three-function pull-down sprayer has a handy pause function to stop the water flow one-handed while you hold a pitcher or potted plant in the other. It also means reducing wasted water.

Terrific case study on off-grid home up in the chilly world of Northern Wisconsin. One of the major challenges for the project was to power the home’s heating system while using less energy than a 200-Watt light bulb. The system today exceeds this seemingly implausible goal, drawing just one-tenth of that 200-Watt target – 19 watts – thanks to unique Alpha circulator pump by our client Grundfos. The system uses Uponor PEX tubing.

Nice review of the Safety Tubs products introduced at the International Builder's Show last month. Noting that "these tubs don't skimp on the luxuries," the building experts at Charles & Hudseon reccommend checking out Safety Tub "before you start your remodel. They really could be life changing."

HVAC and plumbing contractors viewed the debut of the Rheem HP-50 water pump water heater. The three-hour workshop was part of a daylong “Pacific Northwest HP-50 Launch Event” on October 28, held for the plumbing trade, regional electric utilities, energy-efficiency organizations and local media.
