Payton Bailey joins public relations agencyWe’re happy to welcome Payton Bailey, the newest member of the O’Reilly DePalma team. As an account coordinator, Payton will be working across several vertical markets helping with media pitching, content generation, reporting and all-around goaltending. Below, Payton shares a little bit more about herself and her new role:

It’s only been a few weeks since I started at O’Reilly DePalma, and I’ve been having a blast so far. The entire team has been so incredibly welcoming and made me feel like I’m part of the family. I look forward to growing and learning all that I can from my colleagues.

A little about my background:

I graduated from Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis with a double major in event management and journalism, with a concentration in public relations. I had the chance to intern at the Indy Fuel professional hockey organization, as well as The Ronald McDonald House of Indiana. Experiencing both the non-profit and corporate world, respectively, was a great hands-on introduction to the busy world of public relations and event management. Upon graduating, I worked as a wedding planner for a year and a half, but I couldn’t resist returning to my marketing and public relations roots.

If you could have dinner with a famous person (past or present), who would it be and why?

If I could arrange a dinner date, it would be with President John F. Kennedy. Since studying him in school, he has always been my favorite president. I would love to discuss all the events that happened before and during his presidency.

What is something people are always surprised to find out about you?

I am actually named after the famous Chicago Bears running back Walter Payton. My dad loved the Bears and the Super Bowl-winning 1985-’86 team, so when I was born a few years later, “Payton” seemed like a natural choice.

If you were a vegetable, what vegetable would you be?

I would be a potato! First of all, potatoes are my favorite vegetable. Second, you can pair a potato dish with just about every meal. I could be a french fry with a cheeseburger... mashed potato with steak...or even a breakfast potato with eggs and pancakes. Potatoes are versatile and I would like to think a potato matches my personality, because I adapt quickly and believe I can work with anyone.

If you could sit on a bench in a beautiful wooded area, who would you like sitting next to you and why?

I would hope it’s a large bench, because I would want my grandparents, my best friends, as well as my fiancé Kevin by my side. I think my grandparents would share valuable life advice that we could use presently, as well as in the future. Second, I couldn’t imagine an experience like that without my fiancé, because we are a team, and if one member isn’t there, it wouldn’t be as enjoyable. Third, having the opportunity to enjoy that scenery with my friends would make for a wonderful memory full of laughter and love.

If you could choose your age forever, what age would you choose and why?

I would probably choose my current age. I have enough experience to be taken seriously and fully understand what I want to do with my life; yet, I’m still young enough to make mistakes and learn from them.

If you had $1 million, what would you do with it?

The first thing I would do is pay off all of my student loans, because college is not cheap. Second, I would give back to my parents because they deserve the world. Third, I would donate the rest to shelter dogs and cats in humane societies or rescues. I adopted my dog, Lily, from a rescue, and I would love to take care of other dogs and cats!

If you were a candy bar, which candy bar would you be?

I would choose to be a Twix bar because I think I have different layers to my personality. You have the chocolate and caramel portions, which could represent my sweet side. Then there is the cookie portion of the candy, which could represent the tough side of my personality.

What's your favorite social media platform and why?

My favorite social media platform is Instagram. I love how you are able to express your personality through pictures or videos and let your followers see your view of the world.

Name a home improvement project that you completed on your own.

When I moved into my new home, the kitchen had a green ceramic tile backsplash that I wanted to change right away. When my fiancé left for a vacation, I tore down the old backsplash and put up a new clean ceramic tile. He was quite surprised when he got home but it has made a big improvement to my new home!
