Like the other models in the Saniflo line of macerating systems, the fully automatic SANIPUMP drains through small-diameter piping that runs entirely above the floor (inside or outside the walls). As a result, a new bar sink, laundry tub, urinal, hand basin and shower stall - even a kitchen sink with a garbage disposer - can be installed where no drainage currently exists. Spared the expense and hassle of breaking through floors to install conventional drain lines, home or building owners can create an extra kitchen, bath or utility area anywhere in their spaces. The SANIPUMP is especially suitable for carving out new living quarters in a basement, garage, closet, attic or spare room in a home. Five reasons to buy: Made of a durable polypropylene, the compact, 11-inch x 15-inch x 7-inch SANIPUMP offers a small footprint as well as these five distinguishing features: - Three wastewater inlets: The SANIPUMP can handle wastewater from up to three sanitary fixtures or appliances simultaneously through a trio of 1.5-inch inlets, located on either side and at the top of the unit. Water entering the pressure chamber triggers a microswitch, activating the pump motor. - One-inch discharge line: Operating at 10 pounds per square inch, the pump immediately moves the wastewater out of the pressure chamber and through a discharge pipe only one inch in diameter, versus 1.5 inches on competitive models. - Factory-installed check valve: The discharge line is connected to the SANIPUMP unit with a plastic discharge elbow, containing a built-in non-return check valve that keeps wastewater from flowing back into the unit. The factory-installed valve saves the installer time and extra expense on the job site. - Long pumping distances for greater installation flexibility: The one-inch discharge pipe can extend upwards of 16 feet vertically and 150 feet horizontally, giving the end user greater choice on where to install the unit - and therefore where to locate her new bath, bar, kitchen, etc. (A vertical run of 3 feet is equal to a horizontal run of 30 feet.) - Quiet, energy-conserving operation: After the wastewater has been discharged from the pressure chamber, the microswitch automatically deactivates the SANIPUMP, which remains idle until wastewater enters the unit again and the operating cycle begins anew. This cycle normally lasts between two and 10 seconds (depending on the configuration of the discharge pipe run), minimizing power consumption and noise level, which is comparable to a conventional toilet flushing. The newest addition to the Saniflo line of fully automatic gray water pumps, the SANIPUMP occupies an intermediate niche between the SANISHOWER and the SANIVITE gray water pumping systems. Carrying a list price of $249.90, the SANIPUMP has a flow rate of 15 gallons per minute at a 15-foot vertical discharge, making it more powerful than the SANISHOWER (12 gpm; $219.90) and less costly than the SANIVITE (18 gpm; $299.90). The SANIPUMP carries a CSA mark for plumbing and electrical use in the United States as well as Canada. Saniflo warranties the SANIPUMP, including all electrical components, for 24 months. Note: Unlike Saniflo's macerating systems - Saniplus, Sanibest and Sanigrind - the SANIPUMP must be used solely with gray water. It is not intended for handling wool strands, sanitary napkins, paper towels, bones, liquid greases, and so forth. The Sanivite can handle discharged water from a clothes washer, but only indirectly through a laundry tub. An outlet on the lid of the SANIPUMP unit is provided for connecting to a venting system, as required by local plumbing codes. If an installer does not wish to connect the SANIPUMP to a vent system, a ventilation opening is provided on the front side of the lid. This permits the correct operation of the pressure switch, while preventing the loss of the water seal of the traps of other fixtures.
